Trenchless Pipe Repair
What is Trenchless Pipe Repair?
Trenchless pipe repair involves fixing a broken or leaking pipe without tearing up the nearby area. Trenchless methods for repairing pipes can be used on supply lines of water, gas, cable television, and other utilities. Trenchless pipe repair is faster than traditional digging with larger equipment and less disruptive to traffic and pedestrians. Trenchless repairs are more economical since there’s no need to dig up roads or sidewalks for replacement. As with any home improvement project, you’ll want professional help from experts like those at Flow Technologies when your pipes need repairs.
Trenchless repairs are most commonly done using a Cured-In-Place Pipe (CIPP) process. This usually involves the use of an epoxy resin which is injected into a leaking section of piping with specialized equipment. Flow Technologies is experienced using CIPP to repair broken, corroded, and damaged pipelines.
You can save money with trenchless repairs because there is no need to physically dig up your yard or sidewalk. There’s also no need to relocate any plumbing fixtures like kitchen sinks, bathtubs, and faucets that fall within the repair area.

Trenchless Technology – A Modern Solution
Trenchless technology has been around for more than three decades and trenchless methods have become increasingly popular with local municipalities due to their relatively quick deployment time, less environmental impacts, and lower costs. Trenchless pipe repair involves using an epoxy or resin material that hardens within pipes; this allows damaged portions of a pipe to be repaired while leaving the remaining portion intact. Trenchless pipe repair can now even allow pipes to be “rehabilitated” which means that piping that is in good condition may be extended rather than replaced. Trenchless repairs are no longer restricted only to sewer lines but also include water mains and other major pipelines for both residential and commercial applications.
Our Trenchless Process
Trenchless pipe repair begins with a visual inspection of your lines in and around your home. This step helps identify and specify where exactly the damaged section lies so we can optimize pipe replacement without disrupting other sections of piping such as water mains and gas lines. We operate a CCTV (Closed Circuit Television) camera mounted on a tractor system deployed from a service truck in order to perform inspections on the following: mainline, downspouts, drains and sewer pipe inspections lateral and side sewer inspections.
Next, we clean the damaged pipelines. We are able to clean multiple diameter pipelines through different methods. This is done to remove excess debris in the line to assess the need for repairs or replacement. We can perform the following: root removal, grease removal, mainline, lateral side sewer, protrusion/intrusion removal, pipe obstructions removal.
Repair & Rehabilitation
Then, we use a process called Cured-In-Place Pipe (CIPP) which is a no-dig method. This method can be used to repair and rehabilitate sewer systems that include: storm pipes, sewer pipes, lateral pipes. Trenchless pipe repair is ideal for replacing sections of piping that have been damaged through root infiltration or corrosion. The method is also used for installing new plumbing under a building foundation where digging is costly or impossible such as in established cities and urban areas.
Trenchless Pipe Repair is Eco-Friendly
Trenchless sewer repair is a modern and eco-friendly way to repair pipes from the inside.
By eliminating the need to dig up lawns and foundations or tear out walls and flooring to reach the sewer lines, our advanced technology, using video camera inspection saves our customers time and money.
Trenchless pipe repair also eliminates waste by restoring the existing pipes vs. removing and discarding them. Not to mention saving on the expensive process of digging up existing lawns, concrete driveways, or structures.
Minimizing Pipe Repair Time with Trenchless Repair
Pipes that have been damaged by corrosion, tree roots, or shifting earth are problematic for services and businesses. Trenchless pipe repair is a more effective alternative to excavating costly pipes when they fail. Flow Technologies can access the broken pipe through an opening in the ground without tearing up your land. Trenchless pipeline rehabilitation methods include Cured-in-Place Pipe (CIPP), pipe bursting, and other techniques which combine new replacement material with existing pipelines for long-term service life. Trenchless pipe repair provides a cost-effective and eco-friendly solution to many types of plumbing problems.
A Trenchless Approach Can Save You Money
According to statistics, the average cost for trenchless pipe repair is typically around $6,000-$12,000, while dig-and-replace repairs are usually between $4,000-$13,000 depending on the costs associated with manual digging, depth, and pipe location. T
However, this cost can double when buildings, neighborhood streets, utilities, sidewalks, or driveways lie above the broken pipe. Displacing and restoring these fixtures can make traditional pipe repair costs as high as $25,000, if not more, for a single job. Although in these situations, the cost of trenchless pipe repair remains the same because digging is no longer necessary, trenchless specialists can fully repair or replace your damaged pipe without unnecessarily digging up the soil.
When it comes to pipe repair, the most expensive factors aren’t the machinery or materials but the uprooting, landscaping, and lawn damage that ensues.
Trenchless Pipe repair saves you money.
Trenchless pipeline rehabilitation is often the more economical option for single family homes. Trenchless pipe repair can also be used to perform necessary repairs on multi-unit buildings, allowing you to avoid costly plumbing shutdowns and inconvenience of residents or employees. Trenchless pipe rehabilitation can also reduce drainage system replacement costs by up to 75%.
Great for Commercial Applications
Trenchless pipe and sewer repair are ideal for commercial applications. Businesses such as restaurants, offices, medical facilities, shops, financial institutions, and supermarkets can benefit significantly from our cured-in-place pipe repair technology. Our trenchless solutions eliminate the need for digging and expensive repairs to commercial buildings, and companies can continue as usual without disrupting their day-to-day operations.
Trenchless pipe repair can be done at night or on weekends with minimal disruption. Trenchless pipe repair is ideal for facilities that are located in densely populated areas such as business complexes, shopping centers, and public buildings. Trenchless repairs also bypass costly building-code requirements.
Pipe problems in commercial facilities include:
· Leaks around utility connections and joints
· Ductile iron pipes cracking from soil movement and freezing temperatures
· Joints leaking due to corrosion of old cast iron pipes under new concrete slabs
· Sewer line backups into buildings caused by root intrusion, grease buildup, and blockage
These often cause stoppages in sanitary sewer lines causing a potentially hazardous situation involving sewage backup into bathrooms, kitchens, and other areas.
The repair needs of industrial buildings can be complicated and expensive. Many times pipes lie beneath concrete and industrial buildings where business operations take place and production equipment is housed. Flow Technologies is experienced with industrial pipe repair and minimizes production downtime with our professional pipe repair solutions.
Pipeline Repair & Rehabilitation
Trenchless pipe repair is generally applied to larger diameter lines, such as main sewer lines that run from the city treatment plant into subdivisions. Trenchless pipe repair works by cleaning out the existing line of debris and then filling it with a new material to restore its integrity. In many cases trenchless pipe repair may eliminate the need for complete reconstruction of a damaged pipeline. Trenchless methods are often used when there is significant pressure in the sewer or water piping and conventional methods cannot be used safely.

Corrosion is a form of deterioration that occurs when metals react with their surroundings. This can cause steel, cast iron, or PVC pipes to fail from within the wall of the pipe but it does not always mean they will need to be replaced. Flow Technologies’ trenchless repair methods are often used for these types of issues. Depending on your situation, there may be many effective solutions available to you.
